Even though we love reading Thanksgiving books for kids and weaving in some homeschool history lessons every year, we really love coloring placemats because they’re such easy Thanksgiving activities.
They allow kids to be kids and color and decorate while not getting crayons or markers on the table.
This Thanksgiving coloring placemat has different areas with activities for the kids to do.
There is a section for tic-tac-toe playing. That’s great as a partner game!
There’s an area for them to draw their favorite Thanksgiving food. Yum!
The printable placemat also features a Thanksgiving-themed word unscramble.
Don’t forget to jot down what they’re most grateful for in the left-hand box!
And then a search and color activity rounds out the main areas of the Thanksgiving placemat.
How to Use the Thanksgiving Placemat
Using the free printable Thanksgiving placemat is easy peasy!
Simply print out as many copies as you need from the Freebies Library on regular 8.5″x11″ paper.
You can also print it out on cardstock or colored paper if you’re going to be using markers or just want to add some color to the dining room table.
I like to let kids color them while they’re watching Thanksgiving movies for preschoolers!
We recommend using crayons or colored pencils because the last thing you want is for the marker to bleed through to the tablecloth or table below!
Provide each child in attendance at dinner with their own placemat. Your adult guests might like to color and use them too, so print out some extras or put them down for everyone when it’s time for dessert!
No matter how you use them, your guests are sure to love them!
